Crazy Love Chapter 8 Homework

Have a great weekend everyone.
Here's the homework for chapter 8.

Homework:

1) Look at last week’s prayer life and compare it to what you thought it “should” have looked like.

2) Write down what you believe your prayer life should look like for this coming week.

3) Spend 30 seconds at the beginning of each prayer listening to God.

4) Would you say that you place personal comfort and safety above what God may want to do in you and through you? How so? What risks might God be calling you to take?

5) Think about someone that you dislike or have a problem with. How could your last interaction have been different if you loved them and showed them that love.

6)  Describe the way you tend to interact with people. Would you characterize this as sacrificial love? Why or why not?

7) Think about this, would you be willing to pray, “God, bring me closer to You, whatever it takes” and truly desire the “whatever it takes.” Be truthful and discuss it with God in your prayer.

8) Choose one particular sin that you’ve committed recently. During prayer, tell God in great detail about it; why you did it, what did you get for it, why you chose to disobey. Be as detailed and as honest as possible with Him.

9) Are there people in your life who might fit Jesus’ description in Luke 14:12-14? If so, who are they, and what needs do they have? If not, why not and should there be?

10) Watch the videos for Chapter 9.

How much of our money and our time is God's and how much is for us?
That's what we'll be discussing tonight (as well as several other topics).

Here's a short video for chapter 8 of "Crazy Love."

Crazy Love Chapter 7 Homework

Here's this week's homework. Thanks everyone. It was a very good discussion this week.

Homework:

1) Look at last week’s prayer life and compare it to what you thought it “should” have looked like.

2) Write down what you believe your prayer life should look like for this coming week.

3) Spend 30 seconds at the beginning of each prayer listening to God.

4) What are you doing now in your life that requires faith?

5) Describe the way you tend to interact with people. Would you characterize this as sacrificial love? Why or why not?

6)  Think very practically here: How should your love for God flow out in sacrifice for the sake of others?

7) Assess your earning, saving, and spending habits in terms of wholehearted devotion to God. Which of these habits might be foolish in light of eternity? How so?

8) In your prayer, ask God to show you distractions in your life and expose things that you desire more than you desire God. Ask Him to decrease your desire for these things and increase your desire for Him?

9) Watch the videos for Chapter 8.

Crazy Love Chapter 6 Homework

Very good session this week. I know these can be tough questions to answer honestly but remember these are not designed to make you feel guilty. They're designed for you to determine where you are in your relationship with God so you can grow in your faith.

Have a great week. I'll see you Thursday.

Homework:

1) Look at last week’s prayer life and compare it to what you thought it “should” have looked like.

2) Write down what you believe your prayer life should look like for this coming week.

3) Spend 30 seconds at the beginning of each prayer listening to God.

4) Consider the difference between serving God out of love versus obligation. How does obedience to God change as our love for God grows?

5) Does the Christian life feel free to you? Or do you feel bound to obey a system of moral commands?

6) Which is more difficult for you, relating to God with intimacy or approaching Him with reverence? Why do you think this is more difficult for you?

7) Think of 3 interactions with people that you’ve had recently that would not be best characterized by love. Explain why they weren’t. Explain why they should have been. How would they have gone differently if you had?

8) In prayer, honestly tell God how you feel about Him (Good/Bad/Difficulty/Confused); be honest. Tell Him that you want Him to change you.

9) Think of 2-3 difficult areas in your life. Write down what it means that God has already overcome them. With this knowledge, how should you be handling them?

10) Watch the videos for Chapter 7.

Crazy Love Chapter 5 Homework

Once again, thanks to all of you for participating.
Here's your homework for chapter 5.
Have a great week!

Homework:
1) Look at last week’s prayer life and compare it to what you thought it “should” have looked like.

2) Write down what you believe your prayer life should look like for this coming week.

3) Spend 30 seconds at the beginning of each prayer listening to God.

4) Look at 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and personalize it. Take each of the phrases “Love is…” and substitute your name for the word “love.” Write down your thoughts about yourself and the personalized verses.

a.      4[Your Name] is patient and kind;
b.      [Your Name] does not envy or boast;
c.       [He/She] is not arrogant 5or rude.
d.      [He/]She] does not insist on [His/Her] own way;
e.       [He/She] is not irritable or resentful
f.       6[He/She] does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.
g.      7[Your Name] bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
h.      [Your Name] never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

5) Write down some of the areas that you may be “lukewarm” or have been “lukewarm” in the past. How do you overcome apathy and increase your love for God. How can you protect yourself from falling into these lukewarm areas?

6) During one of your prayers, meditate on the following questions. Don’t answer quickly; just consider these things in God’s presence and do whatever business with God is necessary:
a.      Am I willing to say to God that He can have whatever He wants?
b.      Do I believe that wholehearted commitment to Him is more important that any other thing or person in my life?
c.       Do I believe that nothing I do in this life will ever matter unless it is about loving God and loving the people He has made?

7) Watch the videos for Chapter 6.
